Methamphetamine Bust In Clinton – Numerous Stolen Personal Documents Recovered

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A pair of Clinton residents will be returning to court in a few weeks to answer to a long list of charges in connection with several crimes that have taken place in Clinton over the last year. The charges are connected to a number of vehicle entries and thefts from vehicles, a break and enter in Clinton and the fraudulent use of stolen cheques.

On Friday, October 26, 2018 the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of members from the Huron County OPP Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence located on King Street in Clinton.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized stolen identification consisting of passports, health cards, driver’s licences, birth certificates, student cards and vehicle documents from over a dozen victims. Police also seized stolen debit cards, credit cards and personal cheques.

In addition to the stolen identification police seized methamphetamine, codeine and morphine.

Michael BISSETT, 29 years of age and Kristen STEEPER, 26 years of age, both from Clinton are facing the following joint charges:

Break and Enter

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of Morphine

Possession of Codeine

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – 11 Counts

BISSETT is also facing separate Fraud and Use of Stolen Credit Card charges.

STEEPER is facing an additional two Fraud Under $5,000 charges.

Both have since been released from custody with court appearances scheduled for November 19, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
