(COCHRANE, ON) – On February 3, 2016, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), the North East Region Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the James Bay OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Fifteenth Avenue in the Town of Cochrane.
Police seized Cannabis Marihuana and Methamphetamine with a combined estimated street value of $2300, unmarked cigarettes with an estimated street value of $525, offence related property with an estimated street value of $500 as well as $630 in Canadian currency.
As a result, Mark GRAY, 33, of Cochrane was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cannabis Marihuana – under 3 kg contrary to section 5(2) (CDSA);
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) (CDSA);
Possession of Unmarked Cigarettes contrary to section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA), as well as;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on April 19, 2016 to answer to the charges.
