(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 1, 2015 at 3:01 a.m. the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 400 at the Bowes Street exit in Parry Sound following a traffic complaint. Investigation revealed that both the driver and passenger were unlicenced and unable to drive the vehicle. Further investigation and an inventory check before towing the vehicle led to the discovery of a portable credit card reader, equipment and fraudulent credit cards.
The driver, Vasigaran KAILASAPILLAI, 22 years of age from Montreal was arrested and charged with:
Possess instrument for use in forging credit cards contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
Possess stolen credit card data contrary to the CC
Possession of a forged credit card contrary to the CC
Drive motor vehicle – no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Fail to have insurance card contrary to the HTA
The passenger, Taamge VETHARANYAM, 22 years of age from Montreal was arrested and charged with:
Fail to comply with Probation Order contrary to the CC
Possess instrument for use in forging credit cards contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
Possess stolen credit card data contrary to the CC
Possession of a forged credit card contrary to the CC
The investigation is continuing. Both accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.
