(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 28-year-old female after investigating a traffic complaint at a Townline Road West, Cayuga, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 11:34 p.m., OPP located a suspect vehicle that was the subject of a traffic complaint on Haldimand Highway 54 in Cayuga and attempted to stop the vehicle.
Officers followed the vehicle onto Townline Road West as the driver was failing to stop for police. The vehicle stopped at the end of the roadway and officers investigated.
While speaking with the female driver, signs of impairment by alcohol were detected.
The female was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation determined the female’s driver’s licence was suspended.
OPP has charged 28-year-old Meghan MAY of Hamilton, Ontario with:
Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
Operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood
Novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero
Driving a motor vehicle with an open liquor container
Driving a motor vehicle while under suspension
Failing to stop for police
She is to appear in Provincial Court Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
If convicted, offenders are subject to penalties under the Criminal Code of Canada including a fine or jail time as well as a driving prohibition.
