Matthew John Frederick PATERSON – Threats, Cause Disturbance, etc

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County Crime Unit has charged a 46-year-old male after police investigated an incident at a Peel Street East, Jarvis, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, June 25, 2016 at approximately 1:44 a.m., Haldimand County officers, Emergency Response Team members (ERT) and Canine Services attended an address for a male that had barricaded himself inside a residence.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that the male was in the rear of the backyard when police were contacted by a concerned citizen about his behaviour. Police arrived on scene and made contact with the male who refused to exit his residence while making threats towards officers.

At approximately 4:07 a.m., the male fled from the address and was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

As a result of investigation, police have charged 46-year-old Matthew John Frederick PATERSON of Haldimand County, Ontario with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, cause disturbance and uttering threats to damage or injure animal.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
