(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 14, 2017 at approximately 10:07 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7 near Wellington Road 10 in Mapleton Township. The officer observed a northbound 2016 Hyundai SSE travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 109 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
49-year-old Masaki KATSUBE of Woolwich Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on February 15, 2017. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
