(COLBORNE, ON) – On Saturday November 22, 2014 a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) OPP received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on County Road 2 eastbound from Grafton area.
The vehicle was witnessed near Wicklow Beach Road travelling very slow and breaking for no apparent reason. The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu was located by police at Toronto Road and Church Street in Colborne as the street was blocked by OPP for the Colborne Santa Claus Parade.
The female driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and taken to Cobourg OPP for breath tests.
Mary MCEWAN, 75 of Brighton has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and care and control of a motor vehicle with blood alcohol content over 80 mgs. She was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday December 2, 2014 in Brighton Court. The accused was also issued a 90 day driver’s license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
