(WALKERTON, ON) – On October 27, 2012 at 11:14 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault at an apartment building along Jackson Street in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find the Walkerton Fire department had responded to a fire alarm and were checking each unit to investigate the cause of the alarm. In the course of checking the units, they encountered a combative tenant who became physical with one of the responders. The male was arrested without incident and determined to be in violation of a court issued recognizance. 47 year old Mark HATCH of Walkerton has been charged with Assault and Fail to comply with recognizance. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for October, 29, 2012.
