MARIHUANA SEIZURE AT R.I.D.E. CHECKPOINT

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 23, 2014 at approximately 1:20 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 39 just south of Wellington Road 30 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Officers investigated the driver of a 2002 Subaru that entered into the checkpoint and immediately detected the strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle. The male driver surrendered a paper bag containing individual baggies filled with bud marihuana.

Michael SPOHN aged 50 of the Village of Elora has been charged with Possession of Schedule Two Substance – Marihuana – Over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal court on July 4, 2014 to answer to the charge.
