(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On August 20, 2016 at approximately 12:45 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was driving behind a possible impaired driver in a 2003 Ford on Silvercreek North near Woodlawn Road, Guelph. The vehicle was stopped and the driver appeared to be impaired by alcohol. A man was arrested and he was brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for testing but he refused to provide a sample of breath.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
28-year-old Marcus SHORTREED of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Refusing to Provide a Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 16, 2016 to answer to the charges.
