(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 24 year old St. Thomas male with Careless driving after he was involved in a collision with a John Deer Tractor and homemade trailer around 8:45 am on March 12, 2015.
At the time of the collision the John Deer Tractor, towing a homemade trailer transporting maple syrup was travelling north on Quaker Road south of Roberts Line in the Municipality of Central Elgin. The John Deer Tractor was travelling slowly when the trailer was rear ended by a north bound 2001 Chevrolet Pickup truck being driven by the 24 year old male, causing the operator of the tractor to be thrown from the tractor.
The operator of the John Deer Tractor a 77 year old Central Elgin male was transported to hospital with minor injuries and later released.
The driver of the pickup truck, the 24 year old man, was not injured in the collision.
As a result of the police investigation the driver of the Pickup truck has been charged with;
Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
