Man Rescued From River Succumbs To Injuries

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Tuesday July 19, 2016 at approximately 4:20 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Burk’s Falls and District Fire Department assisted with the rescue of a 21 year old Burk’s Falls man who was swimming in the Magnetawan River.

The male dove off a dock below the Burk’s Falls dam and failed to resurface. OPP officers and paramedics jumped into the water and recovered the male in approximately 10 feet of water. EMS transported the male to hospital and on Wednesday July 20, 2016 the male died from his injuries.

A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
