(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday June 20, 2015, around 8 p.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a male inside the Elma Township landfill site west of Atwood. The male ran from police and rode away on a bicycle down the North Perth Trail.
Officers ran after the male and located him in a bush area. The male was found to be in an intoxicated state. The male, a 46 year old Municipality of North Perth resident, was transported to his residence. There he was served offence notices for “being intoxicated in public place” contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario, and “enter premises when entry prohibited” contrary to the Trespass to Property Act of Ontario.
The public is reminded that entry to municipal landfill sites after closing times is prohibited. You are trespassing when doing so, and are subject to being charged under authority of the Trespass to Property Act.
