(SOUTHERN GEORIGAN BAY, ON) Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist with a marine incident which took place on the inland side of Big Chute which is part of the Trent Severn Waterway.
On the 15th of August 2015 shortly after 7:00pm, OPP officers were called to attend to a marine incident in the above noted area for an injured boater. The male boater was operating a vessel towing a person on a recreational floatation device. After immobilizing his boat, the male operator jumped into the water to take a turn on the device and that is when the boat’s propeller made contact with him causing serious injuries.
The 32 year-old was subsequently air lifted to a Toronto area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
