(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have arrested an adult male from Huron County following a search that took place throughout the day northeast of Wingham. Shortly after 10:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a residence located on B-Line Road after receiving a call for assistance. The property owner reported a male had entered into his residence and when confronted the male suspect took off on foot.
Huron County OPP officers along with the assistance of West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and an OPP Canine Unit arrived on scene and searched the area. At 1:44 p.m. police received a second call for assistance from a homeowner located nearby on Howick-Turnberry Road. The suspect was spotted inside of the caller’s residence and when the homeowner yelled at him he fled on foot.
Police converged on the scene and a search of the area commenced. At approximately 2:45 p.m. OPP officers located the male hiding in a woodlot on Howick-Turnberry Road near Gilmour Line.
The male is currently in police custody.
The identity of the male and any subsequent charges will be released pending further investigation.
