Around 12:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon an officer on general patrol observed a green Oldsmobile Intrigue travelling westbound on Longwoods Road. The officer queried the licence plates and learned that they were reported missing. The officer initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver was suspended due to unpaid fines and also on probation not to operate a motor vehicle without insurance. The man did not have insurance for the motor vehicle.
The 63-year-old Zone Township man was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, using plates not authorized for the vehicle and failing to apply for a permit upon becoming the owner of a vehicle. The man also faces an additional charge of breach of probation. He was released pending a future court date. The licence plates were seized and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
