Man Charged with Impaired Driving in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham yesterday afternoon.

Around 2:00 p.m. the man attended the LCBO on Wellington Street. The man attempted to buy vodka, however was refused service due to being intoxicated. The man left the store and drove away. Police were immediately notified.

At approximately 2:07 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man driving northbound on Victoria Avenue near McNaughton Avenue. The man pulled into a driveway and the officer followed. Through investigation, the officer believed that the man was operating his truck while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

Patrick Jay McFadden, 52 years, of Victoria Avenue in Chatham has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He has been released with conditions pending a future court date.
