Man Charged with Impaired Driving

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. this morning, police received information regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of King Street West. Officers were given a description of the vehicle.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Victoria Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop. Through investigation, the officer believed the driver was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The driver was arrested and transported to a police station for further breath tests. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of marihuana.

Brandon Joyce, 27 years, of Victoria Avenue in Chatham has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, driving while under suspension and drug possession. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
