On September 20, 2013, a woman reported to police that she had been assaulted by her husband earlier in the week. It is alleged that on September 17, 2013, the man and woman engaged in a verbal argument when the man assaulted the woman and refused to let her leave the residence. The woman did not seek medical attention.
Through investigation, the woman disclosed a previous incident of mischief where the man damaged her car. Yesterday morning, a 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault, forcible confinement and mischief over $5000. He was transported to court pending a bail hearing.
