Man Charged with Being in Possession of Stolen Property

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Chatham last week.

As previously reported, sometime between September18 at 6:00 p.m. and September 19 at 7:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a locked trailer at Chairs and More on Riverview Drive. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole mattresses, box spring, electric fireplace and stove. Total value of the theft was estimated at $3400.

On September 19 around 4:00 p.m. the man attended the Travelers Motel on Queens Line in Chatham and asked a tenant to store two queen size mattresses and a box spring, all still wrapped in plastic. Later the day, officers attended the Motel for a disturbance and the stolen property was discovered.

Yesterday morning, police located the man on Park Street in Chatham and he was arrested.

Eric Dutcher, 27 years, of Queen Street in Chatham has been charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
