Man Caught Stealing Musical Equipment and Computers From School

(Essex County, ON) – As a result of receiving a complaint of stolen property from staff at St. Louis School, Leamington the Essex County OPP Street Crimes Unit began an investigation. During the course of this investigation, the Street Crime Unit set up surveillance at local schools.

On January 13th, 2015 a male was observed placing boxes into the back of his vehicle which was parked at St. Anne’s High School, Lakeshore. The male party was subsequently arrested and charged with numerous Criminal Code offences.

Some of the stolen property includes; musical equipment, laptop computers, projectors and ipads. The accused returned some of the stolen property however many stolen items are still outstanding.

A 29 years old Lasalle man has been charged with:

Theft Over $5000 x 2 – Criminal Code of Canada

Theft Under $5000 – Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 – Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance – Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The investigation is continuing as it is suspected that other schools in Windsor and Essex County may have been victimized.
