On Thursday January 26, 2017 the Owen Sound Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E program in an ongoing effort to help reduce impaired driving on our city roadways. Just before 9:00 pm, a 34 year old Owen Sound man was stopped by an officer at the R.I.D.E check point in the 100 block of 1 st Avenue West.
The driver of the vehicle failed the road-side test and was arrested. A subsequent test at the police station also registered a fail.
The man has been released pending a court date in February 2017, facing the charges of:
1) Impaired Driving
2) Operate motor vehicle with over 80mgs of alcohol.
The Owen Sound Police Service conduct R.I.D.E programs both day and night. We remind all motorists not to drive if they have consumed alcohol or if their ability is impaired by a drug. Plan ahead, call a cab or have a friend or family member pick you up. If you see an impaired driver, call 9-1- 1.
