On July 15, 2014 at 8:57 a.m., the Guelph Police located a stolen motor vehicle travelling on Woolwich Street near London Road. Attempts to conduct a traffic stop failed when the driver began to disobey traffic lights and speed. Police discontinued pursuing the vehicle for public safety reasons. Further investigation alleges that the male is also responsible for gas drive off thefts from July 13 and July 14. Guelph Police later found the vehicle abandoned on Ontario Street. Continued investigation led to the arrest of the driver on Toronto Street at 4:37 p.m.
A 28-year-old Guelph man has been charged with possession of stolen vehicle over $5,000, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, flight from police, two counts of theft under $5,000 and breach probation.
