MALE SURRENDERS WITHOUT INCIDENT

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Monday, January 27, 2014 at approximately 9:21 p.m. Grey County Ontario Police (OPP) responded to a residence in the Municipality of Grey Highlands after a man produced a knife and threatened to kill his wife and their young daughter, who called 9.1.1.

The victims fled the residence, locking themselves inside a vehicle. Police arrived at the scene and the male refused to exit the residence. The West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the Tactical Rescue Unit were dispatched at which time the male exited the residence and surrendered to police without incident at around midnight.

The 53 year old accused male is charged with two counts each of assault with a weapon and uttering threats, causing death or bodily harm. A bail hearing is scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2014 in Owen Sound. Alcohol was a factor.
