(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Saturday September 06, 2014 at approximately 2:00 pm an officer from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 35 in the Township of Minden Hills Ontario. The officer observed a south bound silver Cadillac passing several vehicles at a high rate of speed. The officer clocked the speeding vehicle at 135 km/h. The vehicle was eventually stopped and as a result Bruce SMITH age 84 of Toronto Ontario has been charged with Stunting – 135 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. Mr. Smith also had his driver’s licence suspended and his vehicle impounded both for a period of 7 days. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court on October 02, 2014 in Minden Ontario to answer to the charge.
