(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male last night with numerous cirminal offences as a result of a stolen vehicle investigation.
On the 9th of January 2014 at approximately 7:20pm police received a call for a stolen vehicle taken from the Days Inn on Cambridge Street in Collingwood. A short time later, officers from the Huronia West detachment of the OPP located the vehicle on 26 Highway in the Stayner area. A vehicle stop was initiated however the male driver fled the area on foot. He was located a short time later with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and officers from the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) where he was arrested and transported to Collingwood detachment.
Charged is 27 year-old Mitchell FOX from Clearview Township, he is facing charges of theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle, escape lawful custody, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, resist peace officer, driving while under suspension (2 counts) and fail to comply with probation order. He was held for bail court this morning in Barrie.
