MALE CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Wednesday October 8, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol duties when a motor vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

At approximately 10:59 pm Wednesday night, a Northumberland OPP officer was travelling northbound on County Road 45 in Municipality of Trent Hills when he observed a vehicle travelling southbound with an equipment failure. The officer stopped the black and red 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck near Concession Road 8 west, former Percy Township. The officer observed some marihuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The lone male driver was placed under arrest while to officer conducted the investigation. The male was found to have a five gram vial of cannabis resin (hash oil) and other items with residual resin on his person. The vehicle was searched and found a plastic zip lock bag with 23.3 grams of dried marihuana bud inside it. All items were seized by police.

Adam Andrew PRIESTLEY, 29 from Havelock-Belmont-Bethune Township has been charged with possession of a Schedule ll substance – cannabis resin – over 1 gm and possession of a Schedule ll substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30 gm under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. The accused was released at the scene on an appearance notice to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 19, 2014 at 9:30.
