Male charged in Howlett homicide investigation in court today

For Immediate Release: Thursday, November 21, 2013
Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Kitchener man arrested by Waterloo Regional Police in connection with the homicide death of Erin Howlett will make a first appearance today in the Ontario Court of Justice, 85 Frederick Street, Kitchener.

Michael John William BALL, 22 years, of Kitchener is charged with First Degree Murder and Indignity to Human Remains.
BALL is additionally charged with numerous unrelated criminal offences involving firearms, weapons and controlled substances.
Investigators are able to confirm that the accused and the victim were acquaintances. No further arrests are anticipated.

Erin Howlett’s body was discovered in the Grand River near Riverbend Drive in Kitchener on July 5, 2013.
To help ensure the integrity of the investigation and subsequent judicial proceedings, detectives will not be releasing the cause of death at this time.
