Male Charged After Crash

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of the Bracebridge detachment has charged a male for impaired driving after he crashed his vehicle on Fraserburg Road, in Bracebridge.

On May 11, 2014 at 8:40 am OPP responded to a crash scene on Fraserburg Road near Purbrook Road, Bracebridge. The lone vehicle had skidded sideways through the on-coming lane and crashed into a tree. The male driver had been drinking and was found to have well over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. The male was not injured in the crash and luckily there were no other vehicles involved.

The 56-year-old male driver from Brampton was arrested and charged with

CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood
CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired

The male will appear in Bracebridge court on June 10, 2014 to answer to his charges.

The OPP would like to remind everyone this long weekend if you plan on drinking, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight.

We rely on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired and intends on driving, do not let them drive.
