MALE ARRESTED AFTER EVADING OPP

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) A 60 year old London man is in custody after trying to evade OPP. On December 19, 2013, just before midnight, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious male at the 401 Highway westbound Service Centre near Tilbury.

Once OPP officers arrived, the male left the Service Centre in a black Dodge vehicle heading westbound on Highway 401. OPP officers followed the male onto the highway and attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop. OPP officers deployed a spike belt in an added attempt to safely stop the fleeing vehicle, but the driver continued on until OPP officers were able to stop the vehicle by successfully boxing it in. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The driver was arrested and held for a bail hearing in a Chatham court on December 20, 2013.

Release of the man’s name is pending charges being brought before the courts.
