MAJOR DRUG BUST IN ORILLIA – Over $500,000 in Drugs Seized

(ORILLIA, ON) – On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, members of the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, including the Street Crime Unit (SCU), Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) and uniform members were in the midst of a criminal investigation and conducted a vehicle stop on Gill St. Officers were assisted by a member of the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB).

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and officers seized a large quantity of drugs believed to be Methylone with a street value of over half a million dollars. There were more drugs found in the vehicle and police seized what is believed to be Cannabis Marihuana with a street value of over two thousand dollars.

Methylone is a synthetic derivative of Methamphetamine and it is commonly held out to be “Molly”, “Pure MDMA”, “Ecstasy”. It is an offence to possess Methylone as it is a Schedule I Drug under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

Jesse BRANDT, 25 years from Gravenhurst has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking

Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of trafficking

Possession of a Schedule II Substance Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams

All offences are contrary to the CDSA.

The male party was held for a bail hearing on April 2, 2014 where he was given a future court date of April 29, 2014 in Orillia.
