(HALIBURTON, ON) – On May 8, 2016, just before 2 a.m., a Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol on Bobcaygeon Road in Minden Hills Township, when he observed a male who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle while the engine was running.
The officer determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested, and transported to the Haliburton Highlands OPP detachment for breath testing.
60-year-old Peter MACORETTA of Minden Hills has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada (CC) offences:
· Care or control while impaired (Alcohol)- sec 253(1)(a)
· Care or control over 80 mgs- sec 253(1)(b)
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his motor vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on June 1, 2016
