(NAPANEE, ON) – On Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at approximately 9:10PM, an officer with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 401 for a traffic offence. The driver of the vehicle stopped partially on the left shoulder and partially in the passing lane, before shutting off their vehicle and lights.
An eastbound tractor trailer struck the rear of the stopped vehicle, continuing through the grass median and coming to rest, blocking the westbound lanes.
The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the KIA, Mabia SADJAB, 41 of Toronto is charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Motorists are reminded to stop on the right shoulder of the highway, clear of traveling lanes when required to stop for any reason.
