Lying to Police Ends With Charges – Methamphetamine A Factor

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On February 4, 2019 at approximately 9:11 a.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business on Sykes Street North in the Municipality of Meaford.

While enroute, police observed the suspect vehicle, carrying four occupants, travelling on Sykes Street South. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle identified himself verbally. During the course of the investigation, police found that the driver had identified himself using a false name. As a result, he was arrested and transported to the Meaford OPP detachment. Drug paraphernalia, as well as a quantity of drugs, were located on his person resulting in the following charges:

– Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroine

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

– Driving While Under Suspension (x 2)

The accused, a 41-year old male from the Municipality of Grey Highlands, was held for a bail hearing scheduled for February 5, 2019.
