(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On November 8, 2014 at approximately 2:40 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a pick-up truck that was travelling north bound on the shoulder of Highway 6 just north of Highway 401. Further information was received that the truck had a flat tire and only one headlight.
Police located the vehicle on Highway 6 just south of Stone Road in the City of Guelph and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Lucas MCGILL age 23 from the Town of Erin has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 21, 2014 to answer to the charge.
