(Municipality of Trent Lakes, ON) – Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to make area residents aware of the “Lottery Scamâ€. Suspects send mass emails and tell people that they “won the lotteryâ€. In order for the victim to claim their prize money they have to pay a fee or a tax.
In the most recent case an area woman paid $700 USD in a money order to scammers. She will not receive any prize money.
