LOST FEMALE WALKING HER DOG LOCATED

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – On Thursday April 10th, 2014 at 4:00 pm officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Central Region Canine Unit and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a report of a lost woman off of Huron Woods, in the Sugar Bush area of Oro-Medonte Twp.

A woman walking her dog through the woods on a main trail had wandered off the trail and become lost. A call was made to the OPP using her cell phone which provided her approximate location.

At approximately 5:34 pm the woman and her dog were located.
Police remind all who venture into the great outdoors to be prepared for the unexpected. Take a map of the area and also ensure someone knows where you are going and when you should return. Take an emergency pack with you in case the unexpected occurs, if you get lost and need to spend the night. Remember to stay in one place if lost, it is much harder to locate someone who is moving compared to one who is stationary. Notify family or friends where you’re going and what time you’re returning and don’t be afraid or embarrassed to call for help if you get lost.
