Liam Paul TIERNEY – Race Motor Vehicle

(CALEDON, ON) – On Wednesday, June 29, 2016 a Traffic Unit Officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 10 north of Olde Base Line Road when he observed a blue Suzuki motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed and determined that the motorcycle speed to be 150 km/hr. in an 80 km/hr. zone.

As a result of the traffic stop, Liam Paul TIERNEY, 29 from Wasaga Beach was charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle; Use Centre Line Improperly; Pass on Right not in Safety; Drive left of Centre Line – On a Curve; Red light – fail to stop. The driver received a 7-day licence suspension and his motorcycle was impounded for 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Caledon at a later date.

Driving 50 km/h or more over the posted speed limit is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving. The OPP supports street racing/stunt driving legislation and other legislation aimed at saving lives and taking drivers who engage in these high-risk behaviours off the road.
