(Hwy# 62 Madoc Twp) – On November 25, 2013 shortly before 3:50pm a vehicle travelling south on Highway #62 just north of Highway # 7 in Madoc Township, crossed the centre line and struck the rear end of an unoccupied tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the northbound lane. The driver continued to travel south on Highway # 62 until she entered a Festive R.I.D.E Program being conducted by Central Hastings O.P.P south of the Village of Madoc. An officer noticed the extensive damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle and initiated an investigation. As a result, the driver 59 year old Lauree SIMONS of Carrying Place, ON was charged with Careless Driving and Fail to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act. She will appear in Provincial Offences Court, Belleville on December 18, 2013. No injuries were sustained in the collision.
