(ELGIN COUNTY) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a large barn fire, which occurred in the early morning hours of December 7, 2013. Police received the report of a large structure fire around 1:09am and responded to the farm in the area of 934 Mill Road, Township of Southwold, which is just west of St.Thomas.
No one was injured in the blaze however damages are estimated at 2 million dollars. It is estimated that 900 goats were lost in the blaze. Farming equipment along with 400 Bales of Hay and 100 bales of straw were also said to be in the barn.
Police are currently conducting scene security awaiting the arrival of the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office.
Investigation is ongoing.
