Lanark County OPP Weekly News

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday 20th February 2017 and Monday 27th January 2017 officers from the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 277 calls for service.

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions. 8 (Including 4 Car Deer).

During the night of Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd February a vehicle traveling east bound on Stanley Road in Tay Valley Township left the road entered a ditch striking a tree. Most of the vehicle left the scene, although some parts remained, and the driver did not report the incident.

Traffic Enforcement.

At 11:35 pm on Monday 20th February officers saw a westbound Hyundai Elantra traveling at a high speed on Highway 7 in Drummond North Elmsley Township. The vehicle was stopped. As a result of further investigation the driver, Steven CLOSE (44 years) of North Crosby was charged,

One (1) Count. Speeding. (114kph in a 80kph posted zone).

One (1) Count . Fail To Apply for Permit (on becoming owner.)

One (1) Count. Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle.

All contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

One (1) Count. Operate a Motor vehicle without Insurance.

Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

At 01:08 am on Tuesday 21st February officers saw a Dodge Ram fail to make a controlled left turn onto Clyde Street in the Town of Perth. The vehicle spun and stopped sideways in the street. Heidi DENT (18 years) of The Town of Perth was charged with;

One (1) Count of Careless Driving.

One (1) Count of Driving while Under Suspension.

Both offences contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

At 01:20 pm on Wednesday 22nd February on McNeely Avenue in the Town of Carleton Place, officers stopped a Mazda car in relation to the licence plates attached to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Thomas OOSTROM (51) of The Municipality of Mississippi Mills was charged with,

One (1) Count Drive under Suspension”.
