(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County Detachment responded to an incident at a Hamdun Lane, Selkirk, Haldimand County, Ontario, address.
On Thursday, August 11, 2016 at approximately 6:49 p.m., OPP, Haldimand County Paramedics and Fire Services responded to Hamdun Lane and Blue Water Parkway for a report of female that became in distress while in the waters of Lake Erie.
Police have determined that a 45-year-old female from Niagara, Ontario, was swimming in Lake Erie with another friend and was approximately 60 to 100 feet from shore when she went under the water and never resurfaced. The friend attempted to locate her and began to yell for help drawing the attention of the bystanders.
Witnesses assisted and subsequently located the female who was brought back to the shoreline where cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated. She was then transported to a local area hospital by Paramedics and then flown by air ambulance to a Toronto area hospital where she was pronounced deceased by the attending physicians.
The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Tracy QUINLAN of Niagara, Ontario.
