(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On Sunday, August 25th, 2013 at 3:20a.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a Break and Enter in progress at a residence in the 100 block of Somers Street, Township of Georgian Bluffs.
After hearing a noise in the kitchen, a resident of the house went downstairs to investigate. The resident discovered a male party opening the fridge. Alarmed, the suspect then fled into the garage where he was again confronted by the home owners.
After hearing that police were called, the male party fled the residence on foot. The suspect then went to a second property, where he attempted to break into an outbuilding.
An extensive search of the area was conducted with assistance from the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and West Region Canine Unit.
The search resulted in Kyle TODD, 22, of Sarawak Township being arrested and charged with the following:
Break and Enter Dwelling House, Contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Break and Enter Dwelling House with Intent, Contrary to Section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Three Counts of Breach of Probation, Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was held in custody, pending a bail hearing on August 26th, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
