(COLLINGWOOD, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a motorist last week for drinking and driving related offences after a near collision with a police car.
The incident took place on January 11 2017 at 10:00pm when an officer on patrols observed a vehicle make a left turn from Hickory Street to Fifth Street and in doing so failing to stop at the intersection. The officer had to brake abruptly to avoid a collision with the car and subsequently proceeded to conduct a vehicle stop to investigate the driver. Interactions with the male motorist revealed he was under the influence of alcohol which led to a roadside breath test resulting a ‘fail’ reading. He was arrested and transported to detachment for processing.
Charged is 22 year-old Kyle JORDAN of Wasaga Beach, he is facing Criminal Code charges of driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol as well as a Highway Traffic Act charge of disobey stop sign – fail to stop. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 7 2017.
