During the week of May 4 – May 10, 2015 there were 79 calls for service. There were eleven motor vehicle collisions; five were related to wild animals.
There were four domestic dispute calls for service during the week of May 4 – May 10, 2015. One 58 year old male of Madawaska Valley Township was charged with Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
FRAUD
(North Algona Wilberforce Township, ON) Provincial Constable Chris Miller is investigating an online fraud that resulted in the victim losing $310.00. Fraudsters contacted the victim and advised there were issues with the computer and a credit card was provided to rectify the issues. Unfortunately once the credit card was provided charges were placed on the credit card and no services were rendered.
Police are reminding the public to access various sites online such as Google to verify the validity of the company, person contacting them to provide a service. Various scams and frauds are advertised and in order to avoid a loss, take the time to check and do your research before providing any funds.
