The 46yr old driver Keith BENOIT of Ottawa was charged with one count of Racing a Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and one count of Breach of Recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Driver Arrested at RIDE Check for Drugs

On the 5 December, 2015 at 12:02am, Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds stopped a motor vehicle at a RIDE spot check on Highway #41, Bonnechere Valley Twp. A small quantity of suspected cannabis marihuana was located. As a result, 30yr old Shane WILCOX of Bonnechere Valley Twp. has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Police Concentrate on Car-Deer Collisions

Members of the Killaloe OPP have been focusing resources on those roadways which have been deemed high car – deer collision areas such as Round Lake Road (county Rd #58), and Simpson’s Pit Road (county Rd# 67), in the Killaloe, Hagarty, and Richards Twp. As a result, so far the OPP have laid twenty-one speeding charges and one stunt driving charge contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Unfortunately police continue to see motorists driving well above the posted speed limit. Police are urging motorists to slow down. When speeds are decreased, motorists have more time to react in order to avoid collisions involving wild animals. OPP advise motorists if an animal is standing on or crossing the roadway, to stop their vehicle if safe to do so. Do not swerve to avoid the animal as this could result in a loss of control and result in a more serious collision.

Phone Scams

The Killaloe OPP report several calls involving various phone and computer scams. Police urge community residents to be aware of telephone calls indicating they are from Microsoft and Revenue Canada requesting personal information. Call the agency for confirmation from a number from the phone book. Police remind residents to never give out personal information unless you know and trust the source.

In the event you are reporting an occurrence that does not require immediate police assistance please call 1-888-310-1122.
