Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 04 January 2016, to the 10 January 2016, there were 73 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eleven motor vehicle collisions, six were animal related.

There was one domestic dispute call for service during the week of the 04 January 2016, to the 10 January 2016. There were no domestic related incidents involving criminal code charges.

Local Man Faces Weapons Charges

On the 09 January 2016, at approximately 1:43pm, members of the Killaloe OPP, Killaloe Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team and the Tactical and Rescue Unit attended a residence on Cedar Grove Road, in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. regarding a weapons call. As a result, 50 yr. old Rudy SAWATZKY, of Brudenell, Lyndoch, and Raglan Twp. is charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Pointing a Firearm

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm x 2

Assault with a Weapon

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

Breach of Recognizance. X 2

The accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke on Monday the 11 January 2016 for a bail hearing. The investigation is continuing.

OPP Investigate Collision

On the 09 January 2016, at approximately 12:46pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Claude Chartrand investigated a single vehicle collision on Hwy#60 in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The 42yr old female driver from Pembroke, suffered minor injuries after losing control of her motor vehicle. Investigation is continuing.

ATV Theft

On the 08 January 2016, at approximately 7: 43pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Mike Recoskie investigated a report involving the theft of an ATV that occurred at seasonal property in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. The ATV is described as a red Arctic Cat. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestoppers.

OPP Warn Public of Online Scams

OPP Constable Julie McPeak is investigating two occurrences of online scams, both occurring in Bonnechere Valley Twp. In both incidents, the complainants reported a loss of money through online purchases. Police are reminding the community to be cautious of giving out personal information online, and always confirm the source before making an online purchase. You can report an online scam at 1-888-495-8501.
