Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 18 January 2016, to the 24 January 2016, there were 88 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eighteen motor vehicle collisions, twelve were animal related.

There were five domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 18 January 2016, to the 24 January 2016. There were no domestic related incidents involving criminal code charges.

Police Investigate Moose Collisions

Between the 18 January 2016 and the 23 January 2016, Officers from the Killaloe OPP detachment reported three separate collisions involving moose. The collisions occurred on Hwy # 60, in Algonquin Park. All three collisions reported extensive vehicle damages; however there were no reported injuries, and no charges laid. Police remind motorists to decrease speeds and to be aware of moose and other wildlife as they travel on the roadways.

Collision Leads to Charges

On the 22 January 2016 at approximately 4:39pm, Killaloe OPP Constables Yaraskavitch and Lapierre investigated a two vehicle collision that occurred on Kokomis Inamo, in the Pikwakanagan First Nations. A 44 yr. old Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. man is charged with Turn not in Safety, contrary to Section 142 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act. There were no injuries.

Police Lay Theft charges in Shoplifting Case

On the 23 January 2016 at approximately 8:40 pm, Killaloe OPP Constables Wierzbicki and Leeworthy attended the Metro Grocery Store, in Madawaska Valley Twp. regarding a theft. Police were advised by staff that a male had entered the store and concealed various food items in his jacket. Charged with two counts of Theft contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada is 21 yr. old Chayton GEOFFREY of Madawaska Valley Twp. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date.
