Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 11 July 2016, to the 17 July 2016, there were 115 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eleven motor vehicle collisions, four were animal related.

There were nine domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 11 July 2016, to the 17 July 2016. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.

Assault/Weapons Charges

On the 11 July 2016 at approximately 8:44 a.m., Whitney OPP Constable Keith Jones received a domestic call for service on Highway # 60, South Algonquin Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 47 yr. old male from Mississauga has been charged with Assault, section 266, Utter Threats, section 264.1(1) (a), Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, section 93(b) and Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon, section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Collisions

On the 12 July 2016 at approximately 5:35 p.m., Whitney OPP Constable Keith Jones received a call of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway # 60, in Algonquin Park. A Honda Accord had struck several guard rails causing damages. As a result, 62 yr. old Thomas LUKOWSKI of Nepean has been charged with Fail to Drive in Marked Lane, section 154(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a provincial offence act notice. The Ministry of Transportation was notified regarding the damaged guard rails.

On the 12 July 2016 at approximately 5:45 p.m., Whitney OPP Constable Keith Jones received a call of a hit and run collision that occurred in the parking lot of the Canisbay Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park. A grey dodge van was struck by a vehicle while parked in the parking lot, causing damages. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene. This incident remains under investigation.

Break and Enter

On the 12 July 2016 at approximately 5:19 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre attended a residence on Highway # 60 in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. regarding a break and enter. Cash was stolen. The OPP Identification Unit attended the residence to process the scene. This incident remains under investigation.

Theft

On the 12 July 2016 at approximately 10:03 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Mike Recoskie attended a residence on Mintha Street in Madawaska Valley Twp. to investigate a theft. Several Nevada tickets were stolen. This incident remains under investigation.
