Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 12 September 2016, to the 18 September 2016, there were 86 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were eleven motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related.

There were nine domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 12 September 2016, to the 18 September 2016. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.

Assault

On the 14 September 2016 at approximately 2:48 p.m. Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre and Acting Sergeant Mike Holbrook received a domestic dispute call for service on Palmer Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 39 yr. old male from Bonnechere Valley Twp. has been charged with Assault, section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Bail Violation Charge

On the 18 September 2016 at approximately 12:32 a.m., Whitney OPP Constable Keith Jones received a Breach of Recognizance call for service on Highway #60, South Algonquin Twp. As a result of police investigation, 34 yr. old Jason GRUNTZ of South Algonquin Twp. has been charged with Breach of Recognizance section 145(3) and Breach of Probation section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Collisions

On the 14 September 2016 at approximately 6:46 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet received a single motor vehicle collision call for service on Elm Street, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. A large McEwen fuel truck had rolled into the ditch trapping the driver inside; however, the driver was able to free himself from the vehicle a short time later. The driver was taken to hospital by Renfrew County Ambulance with minor injuries. The Fire Department attended the scene as a precaution. A small quantity of diesel fuel had leaked out of the tanker. The Ministry of the Environment was contacted and advised of the leakage. As a result of police investigation, 36 yr. old Stephane RICHARD of Bourget has been charged with Fail to Take Precaution Against Vehicle Being Set in Motion section 170(9) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The accused was issued a provincial offence act notice. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

On the 14 September 2016 at approximately 2:47 p.m., Whitney Constable Keith Jones received a call of a two vehicle motor vehicle collision involving injury on Highway # 60 and Round Lake Road, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. A Ford Explorer and a Chevrolet Impala had collided at the intersection, causing significant damage to both vehicles. One of the drivers was taken to hospital by Renfrew County Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The stop sign located on Round Lake Road was damaged and required replacement. As a result of police investigation, 89 yr. old Gloria MANDY of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. has been charged with Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway, section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The Ministry of Transportation was notified with regard to the damaged stop sign.

On the 15 September 2016 at approximately 5:43 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Barry Nisbet received a call of a single motor vehicle collision involving an ATV, on Hidden Trail Road, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. A 50 yr. old male from Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. was transported to hospital by ORNGE Air with serious injuries. This incident remains under investigation.

On the 15 September 2016 at approximately 10:08 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Ryan Lapierre received a call of a single motor vehicle collision involving a moose on Highway # 41, Bonnechere Valley Twp. A Buick Allure had struck a moose causing damage.

On the 17 September 2016 at approximately 12:45 p.m., Killaloe Sergeant Bruce Sawbridge received a call of a two vehicle motor vehicle collision involving injury on Schutt Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A male driver was charged with Careless Driving, section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

On the 17 September 2016 at approximately 5:02 p.m., Killaloe Constable Ryan Szczygiel received a call of a single motor vehicle collision on Wilowski Drive, Madawaska Valley Twp. A Honda Pilot left the roadway and was located lodged in a nearby lake. Renfrew County Ambulance attended the scene as a precaution. No one was located in the motor vehicle. The vehicle was towed. This incident remains under investigation.

Theft

On the 15 September 2016 at approximately 12:42 p.m., Whitney OPP Acting Sergeant Mike Holbrook received a theft call for service on Sand Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. Several car batteries were stolen from the hazardous waste depot. This incident remains under investigation.

Break and Enter

On the 12 September 2016 at approximately 12:06 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Chris Teasdale received a break and enter call for service on Highway # 60 in Madawaska Valley Twp. A log home was broken into and several chairs were stolen. This incident remains under investigation.

On the 16 September 2016 at approximately 11:18 a.m., Killaloe OPP Sergeant Bruce Sawbridge received a break and enter call for service on Highway # 60, Algonquin Provincial Park. A shed was entered and numerous bags of wood were stolen. This incident remains under investigation.

On the 16 September 2016 at approximately 3: 51 p.m., Killaloe OPP Sergeant Bruce Sawbridge received a break and enter call for service on Highway # 41, Bonnecehere Valley Twp. A residence had been entered and various jewellery, firearms, and electronic devices were stolen. The Scenes of Crimes Officer attended to process the scene. This incident remains under investigation.
